There Is Nothing More Annoying Than A Dripping Faucet…
Am I right about that???? It just never lets up! You want it to stop. You need to go to sleep. You just want to relax and read your book. You get the idea. You just want silence. You hold your breath because you think it has finally stopped. And then just when you think it has….It drips again! Ugh!!
Now think about that analogy and think about you. Have you taken the advice of the “masters” in your organization and are working on the skill of “dripping on people”?
Well, if you have, I beg of you to STOP! You are annoying the heck out of people.
I hear it all the time when I’m talking with people who aren’t in Social Marketing yet. They say things like, “What you do sounds so interesting, but I don’t want to bug people”. Now why would they say that? Why, because so many of us actually do bug people! And in my opinion it is because we are taught to “drip” on people. We are that faucet that just keeps dripping!
Let’s take a scenario. There is someone in your life that you know would excel in the Social Marketing business model. You know their life could change if they would just listen and understand, so every single time you are around them you drop in that little hint. Every single time that door opens you drip a little more. You are relentless. Just waiting for them to say that thing so you can say “you know, you should be doing …. with me”. Guess what happens? The whole entire time they are with you, they are trying so hard to not open that door even a slight crack.
They are thinking about your faucet that is about to drip at any second and you are thinking, come on….let me release this drop of water I have waiting for you!! It is so painful for everyone involved!!
So now let’s really chat. We are in Social Marketing. We know what we have or are going to have. We truly have the best business model in the world. We really do. I mean my lord. We work the hours we want to work. We make what we want to make. We work from anywhere in the world if we chose. We get paid to be walking, talking billboards of our products and our lifestyle. We make astronomical incomes for being bad-asses in our company which means we help so many others be bad-asses too. I could go on forever, but that is a different blog. Why in the world would you hint to people about it?
Ask them to meet. Sit your butt down in front of them. Look them in the eye. Tell them about the business. Share with them why you think it would work for them. Answer their questions. Get them more information to make a decision if they need it. End with a yes or a no. Period! Then go the heck on with your relationship.
Trust me, I’m listening to them as we interact all the time and if I feel they are at a point where we need to sit down again because things have maybe taken a turn for them, then I will repeat the sit down. But what I don’t do is bring it up every damn time they are around me.
Let me clear one thing up though. I am not afraid to talk about my business or my products. I just don’t talk about it for them. What I mean by that is Arbonne is what I do for a living and I have built an incredible life so I never don’t talk about it because the person I’m talking to said no to me or won’t use my products.
They are the ones missing out, not me.
I continue to recommend products or business if I think it would help them because they help me. I just do it with confidence and conviction. I am proud of my company, my industry, my products, and myself.
So I let no one dim my sparkling light.
