Life Is Short – Wear Your Party Pants
We all have our special skills.
I’m sure yours are amazing!
I wish I could say I could sing, I could dance, or something cool like that…but nope! You know what I’m the best at?
Partying.
Yep, I could party with the best of them. Not as much anymore now that I have entered my 50’s, but I can still hang pretty damn good!
I know that doesn’t sound like a skill and I’m sure my parents would definitely say that is a bad skill set. But let me tell you, it has served me well in this business!
Why do I say that?
1 - I never ever run out of people to talk with.
I love being invited to every party, BBQ, social event, shower, etc. There are so many people to meet and they are so interesting!
Why would I sit home when there is so much life going on outside of my home?
I do love my quiet time and chilling out, but there is more than enough time for that!
We only have one life and you gotta get out there and live it.
Plus, if I wasn’t putting myself out there and meeting people, I would not have any of those people in my life that I love so dearly because I never would have met them!
2 - When you're having a good time, you're more fun to be around.
I know I enjoy people like that over the ones who are deep, dark, and dreary. Way too intense for me for sure!
Life should be fun and so should business!
I think
- Your events should be fun.
- Your meetings should be fun.
- Your coaching should be fun.
- Your social media should be fun.
You get the idea, so lighten up people, especially in network marketing!
Let your interactions be casual, yet confident. You can be smart and witty. You can be a riot, yet respected.
3 - Party people don’t require much sleep.
We can stay out until late in the night and still get up and make it to work. Well in the old days I could!
In other words, don’t waste hours of the day getting up or going to sleep. Seriously, how many hours do you need to sleep?
I can function just fine on 6 or 7 hours, so you have at least 18 hours in the day to be enjoying life, your family, your friends, and your business.
When you wake up, get out of bed people. Stop right there and make your bed. You aren’t getting in it again for 18 more hours. Then get your booty moving. You have people to meet!
4 - Everyone is your friend.
Why wouldn’t they be, because you are awesome!
So how many people do you know?
Take a look around - there's an entire community of people to meet.
People at the Gym. Parents at your kids' events. Fellow golfers, skiers, hikers and walkers. Everyone in your company. Everyone at the grocery store. Remember this:
There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven't yet met.
- William Butler Yeats
Make people really comfortable around you. Smile at them. Make eye contact when you smile at them. Say something nice. And guess what…just those small things and people will warm up to you.
You see, people do business with people they know, like, and trust.
Ask yourself:
- Are people relaxed and at ease around you?
- How do people feel about themselves when they are around you?
Make some adjustments if needed. I know I need them often!
So there you have it Mom and Dad.
You may have thought my party girl ways were not working well for me, but as you can see you were wrong.
I knew what I was doing all along.
I was just honing my business skills and they have served me well!
